Development of language in infancy through the use of the Multisensorial Estitsologico Method
Abstract
The aim of this article is to show the importance of the early multisensorial stimulation and parental communication with the child in the development of language in infancy. We present a synthesis of the main theoretical approaches and results of the investigation on linguistic development, with special attention to the biological and neuroanatomic bases of the acquisition of language. The plasticity of childhood development and early interventions increased by the parents through their verbal and gestual interactions, can improve the child's linguistic competency from birth. For that reason the Multisensorial Estitsologic Method is proposed. Its effectiveness has been empirically evaluated by means of a quasiexperimental design with an experimental group and a control group (formed by 478 Spanish children of 0 to 6 years). After the stimulating intervention significant progresses in their level of acquisition and development of language are achieved. These results are taken as departure point for a further analysis.
