Is teacher training the key to intercultural education?
Abstract
In this paper we study the training that teachers working in Madrid are currently receiving on intercultural education. In particular we show the results of our research, in which we interviewed the advisors who plan this kind of training in the Support Centres for Teachers (Centros de Apoyo al Profesorado). Some specific themes explored are: changes in the demand for training in intercultural education, the main topics covered in the training courses, the most appropriate people to give the courses, the main training areas requested by teachers and the main factors which influence the success or failure of this type of training.
Key Words: Teachers training, intercultural education.
