The programs of curricular diversification: What is the opinion of the students who have followed th
Abstract
A large number of students fail to achieve the basic goals of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO). In Andalusia, the failure rate is around 30 %. Faced with this situation, the Education Department of the Andalusian government released Order 08/06/1999, which regulates Curriculum Diversi-fication Programmes (PDCs).
A PDC is a special measure taken to help students who have generalized learning difficulties and who are in clear danger of not meeting the goals of ESO. Through the reorganization of the curriculum, these students can graduate from Compulsory Secondary Education. The purpose of our research is to get to know the characteristics of students who have followed a PDC and find out to what extent the programme has helped them overcome academic failure.
