The Semantics Science Teaching: Constructivism, Internism and Kind Terms
Pedro J. Sánchez Gómez y Juan Gabriel Morcillo
In this paper we present an analysis of the semantics of natural kind terms within the educational discourse of the experimental sciences. To delimit the problem, we have employed the internism vs externismdichotomy put forward by Hilary Putnam in his historical work TheMeaning of Meaning. Besides, we have focused on constructivist approaches to the educational process. We conclude that constructivism necessarily implies an internism for natural kind terms, the only exception being social constructivist approaches.
