Since 2010 eight Catalan public universities are jointly investigating about the identification of the competences profile for higher education teachers. Specially focused at indicators of the core competencies for the development of teaching at the University.
This paper presents the work and conclusions reached for the set of public universities of Catalonia, with 15.214 professors and 203.406 students. The purpose of the work is to help universities and higher education institutions who are responsible for the training of university teachers. Suggest main areas to guide its work in terms of teaching competences and training needs.
