Applications of information and communication technologies to qualitative research

This article shows an overview of the digital resources that can be applied to qualitative research. It analyzes the impact produced by the incorporation of information technologie sand communication technologies (ICT) on the field of social science research. Specifically, this analysis is focused on developing qualitative studies in educational research and methodological changes that the introduction of ICT has led. It shows the impact that this relationship has on improving the scientific quality of research results. After a brief presentation of the methodological characteristics of qualitative research, the technological resources that are preferably incorporated in the processes of sampling, data collection and analysis of information are explained. Finally, it shows some future developments of ICT in its application to qualitative research.
