We present a study about the explanatory power of some determinant of academic achievement in connection with the dependent variable "marks": the student's residence, family situation, previous marks, option of studies, motivation for the studies, study habits, dedication to the task, teaching conditions, satisfaction with the academic situation.
The reference population has been the group of students of the Salamanca University registered from 1993 up to 2001. In total about 42.000 students' data have been used, based on a transverse-longitudinal mixed methodology. The statistical techniques base for the study have been the regression analysis, the factorial analysis, the cluster analysis and the discriminant analysis.
