Teaching and assessment styles of university professors and their influence on the ways of learning PDF Print E-mail
We assessed the teaching and assessment methods of 326 university professors and we found out four teaching styles by using cluster analysis: the first one, learning-centered, and with teaching abilities; the second one, teaching-centered, and with some teaching abilities; the third one, learning-centered and with less teaching abilities than the first group; and the fourth one, more teaching-centered than the second group, and with less teaching abilities than that one.

We selected 42 professors of these groups and we assessed the learning processes of their students by means of three questionnaires (of learning strategies, learning approaches and attitudes assessment) at the beginning  (pre-test) and at the end (post-test) of the teaching process of their subject to analyze the possibledifferences between the students of professors of different teaching styles. We found out very small differences between the four groups in the pre-test and many significant differences in the post-test. The analysis showed better results (in learning strategies, learning approaches and attitudes) in the students of the first group, the most learning-centered and with more teaching abilities.
